How do these liaisons work?
Text Box: Dear Friends in Christ,

This Thursday, the fourth of October, is the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Most of us, when we think of this saint, think of his being the patron saint of animals. He is more than that however. He is a role model for those of us who wish to be followers of the way of Christ Jesus.

Francis of Assisi was a poor man who astounded and inspired the Church by taking the gospel literally—not in a narrow fundamentalist sense, but by actually following all that Jesus said and did, joyfully, without limit and without self-importance.

Serious illness brought the young Francis to see the Text Box: emptiness of his frolicking life as leader of Assisi's youth. Prayer—lengthy and difficult—led him to a self-emptying like that of Christ, climaxed by embracing a leper he met on the road. It symbolized his complete obedience to what he had heard in prayer: "Francis! Everything you have loved and desired in the flesh is your duty to despise and hate, if you wish to know my will. And when you have begun this, all that now seems sweet and lovely to you will become intolerable and bitter, but all that you used to avoid will turn itself to great sweetness and exceeding joy."

This is the way of the cross, the way of self-emptying in order to be filled with the good things that come only Text Box: Sara Hope Ministry, and others handle other Outreach activities.

Text Box: For whatever reason, since the Vestry appointed liaisons to work with various groups/committees, there has been confusion as to how these groups operate. There are no set rules as to how they operate, just that their activities be coordinated with the Vestry through various liaisons.
Text Box: The Outreach Committee has functioned using this concept for several years. Denise Thatcher is their liaison and she communicates between the Vestry and Outreach activities. Each activity is chaired by different individuals. Dianna Reitz and Charlyn Cassady chair VBS, Mitch Kile chairs the Book Ministry, Terry Heeter chairs
